This Dungmin native began his carrier as a teacher in 1970, later becoming the Deputy Director of Education, and then the first Bhutanese Principal of Sherubtse College.
Soon after, he served as Chhukha Dzongda before heading the Royal University of Bhutan as its first Vice-Chancellor in 2003. In 2008, he became Bhutan’s first democratically elected Health Minister.
He has a Master’s degree in Education from the United Kingdom and pledges “to bring economic development to his constituency by building road connectivity, creating opportunities for farmers by growing cash crops and exploring trade in non-wood forest products.”
